Park play

Today was a beautiful fall day. I think this year at least, fall is my favorite time of year. It’s just cooling off enough to really enjoy being outdoors and not worry about the baby getting overheated. Today hubby came home from work early and asked if there was anything I wanted to do. I suggested that we go to the park, so off we went. When we got there, we started to put Bug-a-Boo into the jogging stroller. He wanted no part of that! It was like he also realized what a beautiful day it was and wanted to run and play. (Well, crawl and play. He hasn’t made too many more independent steps since his first ones, and he’s certainly not running yet. It won’t be long though!) Our backyard is too sloped for him to freely explore the grass, so we acquiesced and let him enjoy the nice grassy area for a while before we started our jog. After our jog, we headed over to the playground. Bug-a-Boo has been on swings before and loved them, but that's as much of the playground as he had experienced. He got a Little People playground for his birthday and loves spinning the tic-tac-toe board. There was a big one at the playground, so we started there. He grinned like he’d just been given the best present, and just stood there, slowly spinning the pieces. After examining the mulch, we headed to one of the tunnels. He was a little hesitant, but soon was crawling through it. His favorite part of the playground by far though, was the slide. He liked the straight down one, but really liked the curved one. Hubby would hold onto him and start him up as high as he could reach, then gently guide him down into my arms at the bottom. He would smile and laugh! Tonight at home in the bath, he took his toy fish and made it go up and down the toy slide on one of his tub toys. Yes, he’s quite an outdoor baby. Although he may not be able to do much yet, I think many more trips to the park are in our future.
