Storytime

Bug-a-Boo attended his first storytime at the library yesterday. He did great! I thought it was at 10 & it was at 10:30, so we had some time before hand to enjoy the magnet letters and puzzles in the kids section, as well as check out a few board books and a couple CDs to enjoy at home. When storytime started, the librarian was so good with the kids. There were probably 25 or so kids ranging from 3 months - 3 years old! She read a couple stories which had actions to go with them, led the kids in some action songs, read a poem that had magnetic pictures and actions to go along with it, and led a song where the kids got to use kindermusic eggs, bells on bracelets, and rhythm sticks to make music. Bug-a-Boo loved that. The end of the formal storytime was a puppet show where the puppets acted out the story of the three little pigs to a song telling the story. It was great! My son closely watched his first ever puppet show, well some of the time. He did do a great job of sitting still in my lap for just about the whole storytime. The librarian had set out books and puppets around the room, and when the librarian started loosing his interest, those were his focus. At the end of the storytime, the librarian turned on a bubble-making machine and got out a basket of balls. The kids played with those while the adults got to chat. I met a really nice lady with kids ages 3 months and 2 whose mother-in-law lives in my subdivision and babysits the girls! All in all storytime was a great experience. Next month it's cancelled, but they're having a special PBS presentation by the Tellitubbies the week following the normal storytime. I'm not a big fan of Tellitubbies, but I think we'll try to make it anyway. I'm glad to have such a great library nearby!
