Good news - we had our 3rd trimester ultrasound today, and everything is looking great! Since my son was so big (close to 10 pounds), the doctor wanted a 3rd trimester ultrasound to check baby girl's size, fluid levels, etc. They confirmed her gender. She is currently 7 lbs, 7 oz - yeah!!! They did say that 3rd trimester ultrasounds are not as accurate on weight and could be off by up to a pound. Also they said she will likely gain 1/2 - 1 lb. a week until she is born. Still, if she gains a half pound a week for the next three weeks, she will be 1 oz. shy of 9 pounds on her due date. She appears to have precious cubby cheeks and a full head of decent length hair. She does not appear to have yet found her thumb, but enjoys sucking on her arm. She is in a good position - head down with her spine along the left side of my front. She alternates looking to the right or back, which means back labor like I had with my first is much less likely. Her umbilical chord is right where it should be - namely not around her neck (like my son’s was). What a relief to have this ultrasound and find out that everything is looking good - no big surprises that we foresee! Praise the Lord!
